How to create a web site in 12 steps

CREATING A WEB SITE IN 12 STEPS WITH WEEBLY

1 - SIGN UP

First of all you must sign up, it is free and easy. Go to Weebly home page, just choose a user name (not necessarily your web site name) and a password and fill in the form.

2 - CREATE and TITLE YOUR SITE

Now it is time to choose your web site name, first of all click on CREATE on the left side of the dialog box (in the future, once your site has been created, you will access it by clicking its name on the right side of the same dialog box):

A form will appear and will ask you to give a name your site. Bear in mind that your URL will be

http://yoursitename.weebly.com

3 - CHOOSE A THEME

You can now choose the theme (click on the button top right) of your web site among several proposed templates; you can always change it if you want, so do not worry: your choice is not definitive.

4 - CUSTOMISE YOUR THEME

You can also customize the theme you have chosen, just click on SITE PROPERTIES and you will be able to change your theme, or to add a new image to the header etc.

5 - CREATE A PAGE

Well it is now time for content! You can create as many pages as you want, just click from your dashboard on ADD PAGE and name it

6 - CHOOSE A PAGE STRUCTURE AND CONTENT

Once you have your page, before you start writing you can choose its setting such as just text text with embedded picture, video, two columns text, single image etc.. Just click and use the “drag and drop” feature into the page. Bear in mind each element is sequential, but you can always rearrange them, i.e. you can move the text on top and the picture on the bottom if you do not like the previous layout.

7 - WRITE A PAGE

Now you can start writing content using the embedded WYSIWYG editor and then press SAVE. You can go back to the text by simply double clicking on the text box itself. Don’t forget to SAVE often - just in case.....

8 - WEB SITE STRUCTURE

You can create, manage, edit, rank, rearrange and delete pages, text and all the other elements you have created just clicking and using the “drag and drop” feature and the "trash bin when you need it:

10 - EXTRA CONTENT

You can manage, edit, delete extras in your pages, like Google Maps, or Feed Reader: just click on “More” button on top left of your dashboard; and the use the “drag and drop” feature.

11 - PROFILE SETTING

You can edit and set your profile anytime by clicking on EDIT PROFILE button in your main page

12 - PREVIEW & PUBLISH

You can always (something I warmly recommend you) watch a preview of your job before publishing it. Just click once on the PREVIEW WEB SITE button. Once you are ready you can finally publish your web site in the World Wide Web! Just click the PUBLISH WEB SITE button below and in a few minutes you are on line and the whole world can see your site!
